Things to know about 5G ....

The first country to adopt 5G on a large scale was South Korea, in April 2019. As per me 5G is 10x faster than 4G , by experience of 3G to 4G. You need to buy a new phone in order to upgrade to 5G, because band is totally different. But now 5G phones are the most expensive. But in future the prices would reduce. Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the first smartphone to suppourt 5G networks costs around ₹90,000.

As with any new technology, there are always worries about the health side effects. And it’s good to be concerned about our health, but erroneous data can lead to unnecessary panic. As is the case with a graph by physicist Dr. Bill P. Curry that showed an extremely steep increase in microwave absorption by the brain at higher frequencies leading to fears of 5G health risks.Since then, multiple scientists have debunked this myth on the dangers of 5G stating that
  • Dr. Curry’s data looked at exposed tissues in a lab, not cells deep inside our body and
  • It failed to take the “shielding effect” into account. The shielding effect refers to our skin’s ability to block out higher radio frequencies and protect our insides.

On 23 February 2018, Bharti Airtel and Huawei have successfully conducted India's first 5G network trial under a test setup at the former's network experience centre in Manesar, Gurugram. However, the Indian government is looking to ban Huawei from future 5G spectrum auctions due to security reasons. In response, Airtel made a statement stating that it may look for alternatives for 5G as it no longer wishes to continue with Huawei infrastructures. Nevertheless, Huawei urged the Department of Telecom to make an independent decision on 5G rollout. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued press statement stating that 5G is set to transform communication networks and will bring massive growth in Indian economy by 2021. It would take some time to be launched in India.
